“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.” Dale Carnegie
Six days ago, I celebrated chapter 37 in my life. As I heard from many loving family members and friends wishing me a happy birthday, it hit me that the years are quickly passing me by. It caused me to ask myself the following question: am I living up to my full potential professionally, emotionally, financially, socially and spiritually?
The answer is no. While I am very blessed to have accomplished a decent amount in regards to my education and nonprofit career to date, I know that God has called me to a help people on an even larger scale. However, I have allowed the fear of failure to keep me rooted in comfortable positions. For years, I cowardly hid behind education – getting advanced degrees, reading tons of articles on building businesses and thinking about pursuing my dreams without taking an ounce of action.
2017. The year that I am challenging myself to take courageous action in every area of my life. This means saying no to debt. This means expanding my technical knowledge so that I can serve both the nonprofit and for profit sectors more effectively. It means launching my own company and taking on more freelance opportunities. It means doing it afraid.
Will you join me on this journey? What are you doing to take courageous action this year?
